What people say about us

We live in Australia (many thousands of miles from Wales). I first came across Jason when scrolling through a Welsh Springer Facebook group. Jason at the time was presenting training videos on the site and talking about the importance and care needed when breeding for breed preservation. I was instantly engaged by his training ethos and his genuine care and passion for dogs and in this specific instance the Welsh Springer Spaniel.

We have two Welsh Springer Spaniels, Seffie and Millie. Seffie came to us at 11 months old as she did not make it as a show dog. Seffie was adjusting to her new life when a dog off leash charged and lunged at her. This unfortunate experience led her to be "fear" aggressive.

After the negative encounter Seffie became nervous, unpredictable and always on high alert, always looking for potential dangers. She was growling, barking and lunging at people and dogs. Walking her was a nightmare.

After several months working with a behaviourist and trainers we felt we had made no progress.

I reached out to Jason and asked if he could help me from afar as we were close to surrendering her after she bit a friend. jason immediately responded and said he could definately help. Jason provided me with explicit training goals that were doable and tailored to Seffie's behavioural issues and what we wanted to achieve. He also had me make changes in my behaviour so i did not feed into Seffie's fear.

As a result of this training, Seffie rarely reacts on walks, she is more confident and her tail now happily wags!

We found Jason personable and approachable and easy to talk to. Jason proved to have extensive knowledge of dog behaviour, breed specific behaviours and training. If we lived in the UK we would not hesitate to get a puppy from Jason. He is an ethical breeder who breeds dogs for the love of dogs, health and sound temperament.

If it weren't for you Jason we would no longer have Seffie. I couldn't have a dog I did not trust around our grandchildren. Now out of the two Seffie is actually the best with them. She stays next to their cot until they are asleep.

Sincerely grateful

Lisa, Seffie and Millie ..... Australia

We just wanted to say thank you for providing us with such a lovely and happy puppy.

Sam is proving to be an absolute delight, he has settled into his new home and has become good friends with Mali our 6 1/2 year old Welshie.

We were a little apprehensive about getting a new puppy as a companion for Mali but you guys gave us the  confidence and opportunity to go ahead. From our initial contact with you we were impressed how you carefully organised the process, giving us time to meet Sam and his parents and being flexible on our visits. Handing over Sam to us was careful, calm and thoughtful; the documentation you provided including the socialisation pack was first rate

Like you we are great supporters of Welsh Spaniels with their affectionate nature, gentle demeanour and enthusiastic intelligence. It has been a concern of ours that the breed is declining in the UK with a shrinking gene pool and we were so pleased to hear about your breeding program. Not all Welshies have to be show dogs, they are perfect family pets and should be accessible to more owners who can simply enjoy the breed.

Please keep up the good work, dont be disheartened by any negative comments from people who would rather see you fail than see the breed thrive and keep us updated on how your plans for the Welsh Spaniels develops.

Elli and Cliff.

We had spent several years researching and planning the search for our new family member. Not only were we looking for a healthy, well-bred puppy, but also a dedicated, caring and passionate breeder.

From our initial conversation, through video calls to our first visit, we instinctively knew we had made the right choice with Jason and Lisa. We had many questions; all were answered thoroughly. Jason and Lisa's passion for their dogs and their welfare was paramount.

We had plenty of time during our discussions to gain from Jason and Lisa's exceptional knowledge on dogs, from diet and exercise, to training and behaviour, and recommendations of products.

They even asked if we had decided on a name, so they could start interacting with "Chester" at a very young age, before we finally picked him up. They also sent regular videos and photos of his progress.

Jason and Lisa are passionate about health and well-being of their dogs, and all the love, care and attention they put into each litter gives them the best start in life. They also ensure a full screening programme and health tests are undertaken, especially on any known breed issues. All of this evidenced in their puppy pack documents, along with details of the socialisation they have done with each puppy.

Jason and Lisa said we can call them anytime for advice, and we have taken them up on this offer, which has enabled us to provide Chester with a more improved quality of life and as Chester reaches his 1st birthday, we have a gorgeous, well balanced and loveable boy, who is wonderful with children. Following Jason's advice on training and marker words, Chester is exceptional off-lead and has great recall. We have maintained his raw diet and received fantastic comments from the vet in respect of his looks, condition and general health during his checkup.

Chester has enriched our lives so much, and we are so grateful not only for the start Jason and Lisa gave him, but also their continued support, advice and assurance, which has been invaluable. Jason and Lisa are outstanding at what they do, their passion, dedication and care are evident to see. We are so lucky to have them, not only as our breeder for Chester, but we can also call them friends and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone seeking an exemplar breeder.

Graham, Karen and Chester.

We could not thank Lisa and Jason enough for all the help and advice they have offered! We were so fortunate to have come across their advertisement for our Mabel! We had both grown up with dogs but had so many questions around the best way to care for and train Mabel and Lisa and Jason have spent so much of their time offering us advice. Bacause of this Mabel is the most affectionate and happy little dog, more than we have ever wished for.

We even had the pleasure of visiting Lisa and Jason, a few months after bringing Mabel home whilst visiting the area and again Lisa and Jason offered so much of their time answering our questions and giving us solid sound advice.

Any behavioural or medical issues we have come across with Mabel we have been able to contact Jason and his solutions have been spot on every time.

Blackfordash Dogs (Jason and Lisa) are a team that not only promises the best but consistently delivers. As exceptional breeders and highly skilled trainers, their expertise shines through in everything they do. We've got two show spaniels from them, both absolutely gorgeous with fantastic temperaments.

When it comes to training, Jason's ability to problem solve with minimal information and come up with effective solutions is incredible. We've received both telephone and in-person guidance from Blackfordash Dogs, and every single training challenge we have faced, whether it was crate training, behavioural problems or heel work, was resolved 100%.

Jason and Lisa have built a fantastic business, not out of a pursuit for profit, but from a genuine passion for dogs. That passion is evident in everything they do. We recommend them to everyone and if anyone approaches us about training Jason is the first person we talk about. We can't recommend them highly enough!

Hey Jason,

We were at a point in our lives when we are looking towards our retirement and wanted a companion to enjoy our rambling passions with. Our expectations were, that, we wanted an energetic mid-size dog, able to do all-day walks in the hills. Our research facilitated us coming across the Welsh Springer Spaniel and discovered Blackfordash Dogs.

Jason and Lisa were keen for us to make the right choice in the dog we chose and guided us on our path to that selection. The Welsh Springer Spaniel has stunning looks and from day one of bringing our boy Tegan home he has been very calm, gentle, quick to learn and an absolute joy. As a breed they appear to have a more reserved demeanour than others which means when he meets other dogs, children or adults his approach is shy, quiet and takes treats gently.

As first-time dog owners, Jason and Lisa have given freely of their time and experience, both before and after we brought our little Welsh Spaniel home, something our friends, family and colleagues who have dogs are envious of. Jason's videos on social media are super helpful. At 20 weeks we have a little puppy who is calm, knows all basic commands and walks nicely on the lead. However he certainly knows how to have fun....

We are so happy that we found the Welsh Springer Spaniel as a breed and are looking forward to many adventures walkimg in the hills of Wales and Scotland with our little doggy.

I already want a brother for Moose....

My partner and I did not have much experience with dogs, however we were recommended Jason and Lisa through a friend and I am so thankful for it (it was well worth the 6 hour drive!). We brought Moose home in June 2024 and we were very keen to train him properly as we live a very busy life in London, so Moose would need to be confident going on trains / buses / tubes etc. From the start Jason and Lisa gave us so much guidance on how best to socialise him and this has helped Moose to become a very resilient pup.

Jason and Lisa both spent hours with us going from the basics on how to crate train him, to when and what we should feed him. The first night we got Moose home he was making a bit of noise in his crate and I was worried that Moose we distressed. Jason guided us through this process and helped us tackle it in a quick and effective manner.

Two months in, Moose started barking in his crate just before his mealtimes (we would feed Moose just after we woke up). I explained to Jason how we had read online that we should wake up earlier so that we would be up and about and able to feed Moose before he started barking, however the next day Moose would wake up earlier and start barking again. We were anxious and worried that the neighbours would complain about Moose's barking and it had got to the point where we were waking up at 4.30 am and we were quite frankly exhausted. I called Jason for help and he immediately gave us a solution whereby we let Moose out of his crate but did not feed him straight away so he starts to understand barking is not a way to get fed i.e. disassociate the relationship between barking and being fed. We followed the plan and instructions given by Jason and within 3 days Moose had stopped barking and he now waits patiently (and quietly) in order to be fed. We could not believe that such a simple change in our behaviour could make such a change in Moose.

When you buy a puppy from Jason and Lisa the help from them does not end once you take the puppy home. They offer support throughout and can answer any questions, which as been invaluable to us, especially being first time dog owners.

We are so grateful for everything they have done for us. We take Moose to the pub almost every Sunday for a roast dinner and he lies calmly beneath our table with his buffalo horn.

We will be back next year to get Moose a brother.

Poppy Josh and Moose.

Outstanding, professional level of service received from initial enquiry and FaceTime call, meeting new pups and follow up through to collection.

Jason and Lisa go out of their way to make themselves availale at all times, they are extremely knowledgable and helpful throughout the whole process and ensure you are happy with everything before taking your new family member home.

We are delighted with our lovely Cockapoo Margo, and we can't recommend them highly enough. Fantastic professional business - superb level of service received.

And Margo has settled in so very quickly with all of us including Buster and Bobbi

Morgan Edwards.

Since we spoke Brodie has slept through every night. Thank you.

Went to our vet to register Brodie, the vet was full of praise for his condition and all of the steps you had taken. And said "you obviously found a first class breeder"................ ......We did.

Thank you so much

Alan and Maria

As first time dog owners,  we had spent time researching all the dos and don'ts, but we were still nervous and had many questions and didn't necessarily know what we didn't know! After an initial enquiry I had a phone call and then several video calls with Jason and Lisa and I started to feel more confident that we were making the right choice. I had many, many questions, but all were answered with encouragement and the assurance that there were no stupid questions. We could see the puppies on video being cared for and getting lots of new experiences. When we went to collect our puppy Layla, we had plenty of time to relax, to ask more questions and we also took away lots of information on her upbringing and on next steps.

We left with the assurance that we could contact them at any time and were encouraged to do so. One year on, and oh my goodness we have learned so much. I see now that we have been so fortunate to have such caring and dedicated breeders, and I can assure you that Jason and Lisa give so much to new and existing owners. I realise now that all their work giving Layla new experiences in the early weeks was key to the type of dog she has become and having now seen the process, dedication and love that they put into each litter I can attest to the difference it makes. As they promised, I have been in touch on the phone and submitted videos several times to help with training and always have received practical guidance and encouragement. I'm so very grateful that Jason and Lisa gave Layla such a great start in life, and that they are there if we need them.

It is with immense joy and gratitude that i write this testimonial for the exceptional Silver Labrador Retriever we aquired from Lisa & Jason. Our beloved Zen, a vibrant and spirited 5 year old boy, has not only brought immeasurable happiness into our lives but has also exceeded all expectations.

From the very moment Zen entered our home, it was evident that he was going to be more than just a pet; he was a cherished member of our family. His delightful temperament, boundless energy and unwavering loyalty are a true testament to the care and dedication that your breeding program instils in each and every dog. Zen exhibits not only impressive physical attributes but also a gentle demeanour, making him a joy to be arround for adults and children alike.

We extend our deepest gratitude for the meticulous attention to detail that you put into breeding these incredible animals. It is evident that you not only breed for conformity to breed standard but also for the overall well-being of the dogs, ensuring they are equipped to thrive in loving homes.

Thank you for providing us with a furry family member who has become an inseparable part of our lives. We whole heartedly recommend Jason & Lisa to anyone seeking a furry friend of exceptional quality and temperament. Your dedication to breeding os truly commendable, and we are so grateful for the positive impact Zen has had on our lives.

Jason and Lisa have been the perfect breeders for our dog Rex. We couldn't have asked for better and more caring owners to bring him up before we brought him home with us. It's so reassuring to have Jason advise us when we have any questions or queries about his training or behaviours. If you are thinking about getting a dog through Blackfordash Dogs, then go for it. We couldn't recommend them enough. I could go on and on about how supportive and helpful they have been but it is better to say thankyou for all the time and expertise you have given us to make owning Rex a dream. It`s lovely that we have kept in contact and I will continue to do so for the future. Thank you again for all your efforts and hard work.

It has been over a year since we welcomed Poppy into our family, thanks to the exceptional care and expertise of Jason and Lisa. Poppy was a decision made with considerable thought, recognising the significant commitment involved. Poppy wasn't just a pet; she represented a profound step for our family, taken at just the right moment.

Having known Jason and Lisa for several years, their extraordinary approach to animal breeding and care was already apparent to us. Their facilities are nothing short of outstanding, and their care for animals is remarkable. This excellence is a testament to their character as individuals - genuinely wonderful people deeply committed to animal welfare.

My background in working and studying horse behaviour has led to many insightful conversations with Jason about animal behaviour and training philosophies. My experience was primarily with larger, more assertively trained dogs, as a contrast to Poppy's calm and sensitive disposition. This difference made Poppy's integration into our family a unique journey for us, requiring a nuanced approach to her training and care.

Poppy, now approaching 18 months old, has developed remarkably. This transformation can be attributed to the clear boundaries and training techniques implemented from the start, guided by Jason. Their advice on crate training proved invaluable. This aspect of her training became significant in her interactions with our young child, fostering a mutually respectful relationship.

The support provided by Jason and Lisa extended beyond just initial training. They were always available for queries regarding nutrition, obedience and general care, becoming not just advisors but also friends. Their continuous support over the past year has been instrumental in shaping Poppy's happy and confident personality.

Jason's keen eye and insightful suggestions have been particularly beneficial. His ability to spot nuances in Poppy's behaviour and offer tailored advice has been a cornerstone of her positive development. The training methods we adopted, focusing on fun and positive reinforcement, have not only helped Poppy but allowed our daughter to safely and respectfully interact with her.

One significant decision was to establish clear spatial boundaries for Poppy, particularly concerning our living space and interactions with our cats, facilitated by thoughtful preparation has been a joy to witness.

Transitioning Poppy to a raw food diet, another step guided by Jason and Lisa, has also contributed to her well being. Poppy enjoys a balanced life with ample stimulation, play, and quiet time, all within the framework of well-established rules and boundaries.

Reflecting on this journey, it's clear that without Jason and Lisa's guidance, our experience could have been vastly different. Their expertise not only aligned with but also enhanced my underatanding of animal training. Poppy's development into a happy, confident, and well-adjusted dog is testament to their dedication and skill.

From the bottom of my heart, I extend my deepest gratitude to them both. Their commitment and support have been invaluable, profoundly impacting our lives. Poppy is more than we could have ever hoped for, and her wonderful life is largely thanks to Jason and Lisa's care and guidance.

I can highly recommend Blackfordash Dogs. Our beautiful Cocker Spaniel, Frank was born in December 2022 and we first brought him to his forever home in March 2023.

From the moment we brought him home he was a clever, content puppy, full of confidence and quick to learn, which is down to the amazing start in life given to him by Jason and Lisa. They spend so much time acclimatising the pups to everyday sounds and experiences and by the time he came home nothing really phased him.

What makes their business extra special is that they are on hand at any time to offer advice about training, give guidance and reassurance and not just in the early days but any time you need it!.

Blackfordash Dogs is clearly far more than just a business for Jason and Lisa, their care for each and everyone of their dogs is clear to see and I am so glad we chose them to get our gorgeous puppy from.

Jason and Lisa were fantastic when we were looking to get a puppy, they gave us honest straight forward advice and helped us choose the right dog for us. Our dog is now three years old and we still speak to Jason regularly with queries on training and he is always ready to give expert advice. There are lots of breeders that will happily give you an eight week old puppy and wave goodbye - that is asolutely not the case here. We will hopefully get another dog soon and it would only be from Jason and Lisa. Thank you again

I bought a puppy from Jason and Lisa in 2019 and we have stayed in touch ever since. When i first responded to their advert and spoke to jason on the phone, I immediately arranged to go and see their puppies the next day. Mum and puppies were in the kitchen, very much part of the family, and Jason and Lisa made us feel very welcome. We spent ages there, chatting about the puppies, our other dogs, dogs we had loved and lost and felt we had made new friends. We were able to ask any questions we had, whilst interacting with the puppies and their beautiful mum. After the first meeting I was sent regular photos / videos / updates of my puppy, and invited to visit as often as I wanted. We went several times, taking my dad the next time, allowing me to bond with my puppy before finally picking her up and taking her home.

It is obvious how much Jason and Lisa love their dogs - both mums and pups - and are sad to see them go and want to stay in touch. Lisa even baths and gives the dogs a puppy groom before they go to their new forever homes, and you are provided with a blanket with the smell of their mum, a favourite toy and a beautiful puppy blanket. I was even given a blanket with my puppy's smell on to allow our other dogs to get used to her smell before she came home. Daenerys had been microchipped, wormed and fully vaccinated before she came to us, and had a socialisation chart showing the experiences she had had.

Lisa set up a facebook group for owners of the pups from the same litter to stay in touch, where Jason and Lisa also contribute. I know if I had any questions about my pup's health / behaviour or needed any advice at all, that I could call Jason and he would give me any advice I need.

I can't recommend Jason and Lisa highly enough - so much so that my mum returned the following year to choose her own puppy! She received the same excellent care, and mum has also contacted Jason for advice on several occasions.

Kath Slinger.

We have 2 Cocker Spaniel puppies from Jason and Lisa.

First off you dont buy a puppy from Jason, you join the Blackfordash family. Jason is always available for advice on training, feeding, health or anything dog related. Lisa is always first to comment on a post on your litters Faceook group. They really do mean it when they say it is a two-way life-long commitment.

From first enquiry through to collecting your puppy Jason will keep you informed with videos and messages. Obviously, all the basics are covered vet checks, vaccination (full course and kennel cough) microchip registration, socialisation, KC registration, puppy insurance and much much more.

Jason and Lisa's first and main priority is the welfare of their dogs. When you visit their facility that is abundantly clear.

We wouldn't consider going anywhere else and neither would our friends who have had pups from them on our recommendations.

Robert & Brian, Manchester

We have had pets all our lives, mostly rescue but always for life.

So when my 50th started to loom on the horizon it felt like the time was right to treat ourselves to the dog we had always wanted (A Cockapoo). A friend recommended Jason and Lisa and gave us the number, we went to meet them, had a tour of their amazing set up and met a litter of Cockapoo's. Right from the start we could just tell that Jason and Lisa were very different from anyone we had bought a puppy from before. The amount of love, care, compassion, knowledge and dedication that they displayed just blew us away. Many visits and lots of questions later we arrived to pick up our chosen puppy. Normally that would have been the end of the process, but not for us! Jason and Lisa have continued to provide any help, information that we have needed and continue to do so. This has enabled us to  be the best dog owners we can be. I can't believe how lucky we have been, they live and breathe their calling totally. Our puppy is now 9 months old and I can't imagine life without him now.

So if your looking for a puppy what are you waiting for!! Get in touch with Jason and Lisa, you'll be blown away just like we were. 5* people.

After searching for the perfect dog for many months and not having much luck. We found Jason and Lisa and we are so thankful that we did. Our beautiful puppy Olive is so perfect for us. Jason and Lisa put so much effort into breeding Blackfordash dogs and it really shows. We get compliments everywhere we go.

Olive has the most amazing temperament, so calm and loving, an absolute delight to have around. Not only have they given Olive the best start in life with diet and socialisation, but they are constantly available on the other end of the phone for any advice or training tips, which has been invaluable.

We couldn't have asked for better breeders for Olive. Many thanks again to Jason and Lisa.

Harry and Charlotte

I had a very sick  puppy through Saturday night who had a dreadfully upset tummy which knocked the hell out of her. I want to thank Jason who I got Hattie from for his advice and support yesterday which was great and saved me having to visit a vet. Jason pledges to be there for any problems or worries you may have throughout the dogs lifetime and I was so very grateful. Needless to say, the little madam is back to her usual batty, boisterous self today.

Thanks so much Jason.
